Original Content From Ad: This is a 1973 Datsun 240 Z with a very strong 280Z motor and matching five-speed transmission. It an F model block which is the strongest of those motors. Unfortnately it retained the R180 rear end which was meant for the smaller 240Z motor and it currently sounds like it has 100.00 in change in there and is in need of rebuilding. I have a full and a partial R180 to rebuild or replace or it could be upgraded to an R200 and you could go tear up the streets.
The interior seat fabric is pretty good except for the drivers bottom. It needs a full carpet set if you are going to use it as a regular car rather than go racing. It has an amazing sounding exhaust system. It has a 280ZX hood for the extra cooling for this motor. It has a rollbar installed and four point harnesses but I also have the original seatbelts somewhere. I have started on the bodywork and there is nothing more than a lot of little dings. The worst thing about the bodywork is the terrible sunroof installation someone did. I was going to just take it out and cap it but there are more modern sunroofs that will fit.
With paint, carpet, and the rear end rebuilt these cars average 13000.00 resale on the market without being a major restoration. I paid 5500.00 and it tore out the rear end in short order so I found the replacements and have now reduced the price to $4200.00 for it as it is now. Someone will be able to make a great and profitable project from this. My girlfriend lost a battle with depression, ending her life in August, and I am no longer in the mood to work on it at this time. If I don’t sell it I will get to it one day and make more on it so please don’t call with low ball offers. I don’t need that at this time.It is worth what I am asking. If a buyer comes with cash in hand we can run it up and down the street but the rear end is so noisy I’m not sure I would drive it a whole lot to take it home so plan on a trailer or tow. Steering is tight as is the transmission although it has popped out of fifth gear under deceleration a time or two if hand is not on the shift. Overall it is tight and strong for this year. If you know these cars this is an amazing performer. It would eat my 2004 Mustang alive and corners like a snake in the grass. The motor is very strong and I’m sure it would part out for much more but I want to see this go to a good home.
