I have a 1973 Datsun 240z looking for a loving home. I took on ownership from my father 3 years ago (not driven since) and he was the second owner back in the 80’s. Currently the car is in great condition and will not require any major rust restoration work.
Within the last 5 years this car received a new paint job , new seat upholstery, new door upholstery, new weather stripping for the door windows, new fuel tank + lines + pump (used RX7 pump), and most recently: new kits for the carbs. This car was previously totaled after being stolen and had started to be stripped for parts – insurance totaled it because KBB < $$$ for emblem replacements.
Under the hood: Rebello motor (3.0 liter bore job). 280zx block, 240z head. Straight 6 Weber carbs (45’s) + new foam filters. 5 speed transmission added. 6 to 1 headers into a 2″ exhaust + glass pack. UPDATE: I’ve been working to get verifications on the work done, but Dando’s paperwork only goes back to ’07 and the motor work was done in the mid 90’s. Rebello was unable to verify, as the work was done for Dando’s in my father’s behalf.
The carbs are awaiting Redline kits & will be back on and tuned shortly. If you know your Z’s, finding a pre-renovation & early 70’s model that’s not rotted out or running without major work is tough to find: call this a great blank slate / starting point for a project car with an already great engine – solid block/head to go the FI/turbo route. Otherwise this is more than ready for some fun weekend driving (also my intent prior to selling). I grew up with this car, learned how to drive stick in it, and definitely would like the next owner to enjoy it as much as my family has.
